Queue times for Overwatch 2 appear to be improving after a rocky launch

There were massive queue times at launch for Overwatch 2, but they have steadily improved for players worldwide.

Overwatch 2 launched yesterday at exactly 12 pm PT/3 pm ET/8 pm BST, bringing players the next generation of hero shooters. Players queued behind thousands of others for a chance to get into the game at launch, as this Reddit post attests.

There are a number of players who recount their experiences trying to access Overwatch 2 in the comments section underneath the original Reddit post. While some players had to queue behind 40,000 other players, others were unable to queue at all, being disconnected every time they attempted to enter the game.

Overwatch 2 players, however, seem to be experiencing some improvement. For example, this morning we queued for less than five minutes and the number of complaints about queue times has drastically decreased on the Overwatch 2 subreddit.

Overwatch 2 servers were under attack from a DDoS attack yesterday, which caused all the queue times players experienced yesterday. A number of Blizzard developers have taken to social media to announce the game is experiencing a “massive DDoS attack,” with teams trying to mitigate the problems.

The Overwatch 2 servers appear to be stabilizing after this period of uncertainty, and the swift recovery can be attributed to some incredibly hard-working Blizzard developers.
